Introduction

Agitated Thin Film Dryers are used to produce dry,free-flowing powders from slurry/solution feeds and are widely used in the pharmaceutical,chemical and food industries. The feed is passed through ATFD in several forms,such as a solution/slurry,and successively becomes a paste,a wet powder and a dry powder. The feed stream in the ATFD undergoes a helical path (combination of the rotational speed applied by the agitator/blade and the axial velocity of the feed) as it flows through the annular portion of the dryer.
