Thin Film Distillation System
Description
Technical Parameters
A Thin Film Evaporator, also known as a Wiped Film Evaporator, is a highly efficient industrial evaporation and separation equipment widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, petrochemical, and wastewater treatment industries. The system operates by distributing the material into a thin film along the heated inner wall, allowing rapid heat transfer and fast evaporation under vacuum conditions. Due to its short residence time and continuous operation, the Thin Film Evaporator is especially suitable for processing heat-sensitive, high-viscosity, easily fouling, and contaminated liquids.
Compared with traditional evaporation equipment, the Industrial evaporation equipment offers superior heat transfer efficiency, stable evaporation performance, and lower energy consumption. Its advanced design minimizes product degradation and material loss while ensuring high-purity concentration and separation results. The equipment can operate efficiently under a wide range of temperatures, pressures, viscosities, and evaporation conditions, making it an ideal solution for solvent recovery, concentration, distillation, and purification applications.

Working principle
A Thin Film Evaporator (TFE), also known as a Wiped Film Evaporator, is designed for efficient thermal separation, concentration, and distillation of heat-sensitive and high-viscosity materials. During operation, the feed liquid is evenly distributed onto the heated inner surface of the cylindrical or conical evaporator by a specially designed distribution system. The rotating rotor and wiping blades continuously spread the liquid into a thin turbulent film, typically less than 0.5 mm thick, ensuring rapid heat transfer and efficient evaporation under vacuum conditions.
The high-speed rotor creates intense turbulence and strong mixing effects, significantly improving heat and mass transfer performance even when processing viscous, fouling, or temperature-sensitive products. This advanced thin film evaporation technology helps prevent scaling, fouling, and local overheating while maintaining stable product quality and high evaporation efficiency.
In addition, the centrifugal force generated by the rotor keeps the liquid film uniformly attached to the heated surface, preventing vapor layer formation that could reduce heat transfer efficiency. This operating principle allows the Industrial Thin Film Evaporator to achieve extremely high evaporation rates, low energy consumption, and continuous stable operation.
Due to its superior thermal performance and short residence time, Continuous Thin Film Evaporators are widely used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, petrochemical refining, solvent recovery, food concentration, and wastewater treatment industries.
