Immediately Stop the Reaction Process

If a pressure reactor is overpressured, immediately stop all operations related to the equipment. Disconnect the heating or other energy sources that drive the reaction to prevent further heat release and pressure buildup. Also, stop adding raw materials to the reactor to prevent further reaction and increased internal pressure, thus creating stable conditions for subsequent pressure relief operations.

Perform Pressure Relief Procedures Properly

Open the reactor's safety relief device, such as a safety valve or manual pressure relief valve, and slowly release the internal pressure. During the pressure relief process, control the release rate to avoid sudden pressure drops that could damage equipment or cause material splashing. Closely monitor the pressure gauge. Once the pressure drops to a safe level, close the pressure relief device to prevent excessive pressure release that could impact subsequent processing.

Thoroughly Identify the Cause of Overpressure

After the pressure stabilizes, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the reactor to identify the source of the overpressure. Check the pressure control system for malfunctions, such as sensor failure or stuck control valves. Check the stirring system for proper operation. Failure to stir may lead to uneven material reaction and localized pressure increases. Also, investigate the reaction process for abnormalities, such as improper raw material ratios or uncontrolled reaction temperature, to ensure the precise location of the problem.

Gradually Restore Equipment Operation

Repair the identified cause of overpressure by replacing faulty components or adjusting reaction parameters. After repairs are complete, test the reactor for leaks to confirm there are no leaks. Then, gradually resume the reaction according to normal operating procedures. Initially, adjust the pressure and temperature slowly, closely monitoring the equipment's operating status to ensure all parameters remain within safe ranges and avoid recurring overpressure.
