How to solve the scaling problem in Fluid Heat Exchangers

To solve the scaling problem in Fluid Heat Exchangers, you can start from the following aspects:

Physical cleaning

High-pressure water jet cleaning: Use a high-pressure pump to pressurize water, and form a high-speed water jet through a special nozzle to impact the dirt on the surface of the heat exchanger and make it fall off. This method has a good cleaning effect and does not chemically corrode the equipment, but for heat exchangers with complex structures, there may be blind spots in cleaning.

Mechanical cleaning: Use brushes, scrapers and other tools to manually or mechanically scrape and brush the heat transfer surface of the heat exchanger to remove scale. This method is suitable for hard and thick scale, but it may cause some damage to the heat transfer surface.

Chemical cleaning

Pickling: According to the composition of the scale, select the appropriate acid, such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, citric acid, etc., to react chemically with the scale to dissolve and remove it. Before pickling, a small test is required to determine the optimal acid concentration and cleaning time. At the same time, corrosion inhibitors should be added to prevent the acid from corroding the equipment.

Alkaline washing: For dirt such as grease and organic matter, alkaline solutions such as sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate can be used for cleaning. Alkaline washing can saponify grease and decompose organic matter, thus achieving the purpose of cleaning.

Online cleaning

Adding scale inhibitor: Adding an appropriate amount of scale inhibitor to the fluid can change the existence state of scale-forming ions in the water, prevent the growth and deposition of scale crystals, and achieve the purpose of scale prevention. The type and amount of scale inhibitor should be selected and adjusted according to the water quality and the working conditions of the heat exchanger.

Electromagnetic descaling: The electromagnetic field is used to act on the scaling ions in the fluid, making it difficult for scale to form on the surface of the heat exchanger. At the same time, the scale that has already formed can be gradually loosened and fallen off.

Precautions

Soften the incoming water: Soften the water entering the heat exchanger to reduce the content of calcium, magnesium and other ions in the water, and reduce the formation of scale from the source. Ion exchange resin softening method, reverse osmosis method, etc. can be used.

Control operating parameters: Reasonably control the temperature, flow rate, pH value and other parameters of the fluid in the heat exchanger to avoid accelerated scaling due to unreasonable parameters.
