Introduction

The rectification column is a tower vapor-liquid contact device for rectification. There are two main types of plate towers and packed towers. According to the operation mode, it can be further divided into a continuous rectification column and a batch rectification column.

Principle of distillation

The basic principle of distillation is to partially vaporize and partially condense the liquid mixture, and to utilize the characteristics of different volatility (relative volatility, α) of each component to achieve unit operation for separation purposes. Distillation can be divided into simple distillation, flash distillation, rectification and special rectification according to its operation method.

The vapor enters from the bottom of the tower. The vaporized vapor phase is in countercurrent contact with the descending liquid. In the two-phase contact, the volatile (low boiling point) component in the descending liquid is continuously transferred to the gas phase, and the less volatile (high boiling point) component in the gas phase is continuously decreased. In liquid transfer, the gas phase is closer to the top of the column, and the higher the concentration of volatile components, the closer the falling liquid is to the bottom of the column, and the more volatile components are enriched, thereby achieving the purpose of component separation. The gas phase rising from the top of the column enters the condenser, and a part of the condensed liquid is returned as a reflux liquid to the top of the column into the rectification column, and the remaining portion is taken out as a distillate. The liquid flowing out from the bottom of the column, a part of which is sent to the reboiler, heated and evaporated into a gas phase return tower, and another part of the liquid is taken out as a residue.
